About East South

Carla400Carla Swank Fox

Founder and Chief Strategist

Carla has always had a knack for finding and telling great stories.

A native of Western Pennsylvania, she began her professional writing career in high school, where she interned as a reporter at her hometown newspaper.

Her professional career has taken her from a suburban Pittsburgh-area newspaper and a boutique communications and marketing firm to an eventual role as assistant editor and network producer at Yahoo! Sports in Nashville.

Carla holds a B.A. in Communication (with emphasis in corporate communication and media production) and an M.S. in Organizational Studies and Leadership, both from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

In addition to her role at East South, Carla currently serves as communications assistant for The Fellowship of United Methodists of Music and Worship Arts (FUMMWA) and is an adjunct lecturer at Middle Tennessee State University, where she focuses her teaching in new media, writing and strategy.

She is the co-founder of Craft Content Nashville, a new “unconference” focusing on the digital creative community, and is the co-host of The Carla and Crappy Show, a weekly college football webcast.

Why East South?

Content is created by people, for people.

That’s the basic premise of everything that we do for our clients. Putting people first — ahead of platform and technology — allows us to help you identify your true story and tell it in a way that resonates deeply with your audience.

We want to truly get to know you, your business, your customer. We’ll work with you to discover what channels will work best for you and create an effective strategy to tell your story in a consistent way.

We serve clients in a wide variety of industries, but we work best with companies and organizations that are working to improve the common good or support a social initiative.
